Ingredients:
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup (8 fl oz) whole milk
- 2 cups (10 oz) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (7 oz) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (7 oz) brown sugar
- 1 cup (3.5 oz) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (4 fl oz) vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup (8 fl oz) hot water
Chocolate Filling:
- 7 oz (200 g) semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 cup (8 fl oz) heavy cream
Directions:
Preparing the Batter:
First, preheat the oven to 356 °F (180 °C) and grease two glass baking dishes.
Next, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a bowl. Set aside.
In another bowl, beat the sugars, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Then, add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until fully combined.
Add the hot water and mix well. The batter will be thin, which is normal.
Divide the batter evenly between the baking dishes and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Preparing the Chocolate Filling:
First, melt the semi-sweet chocolate using a double boiler or microwave.
Next, combine the melted chocolate with the heavy cream to create a smooth ganache.
Let it cool completely before using.
Assembling the Cake:
Once the cakes are cool, carefully remove them from the pans.
Spread the chocolate filling over the surface of one cake.
Then, place the second cake on top, creating a filled layer.
Finally, decorate as desired.
