How to Make Homemade Pancakes

Picture a stack of warm, fluffy pancakes, golden and steaming, ready to be topped with maple syrup and your favorite add-ons. This easy homemade recipe is your gateway to the perfect breakfast experience at home. You don’t need cooking classes or costly meal delivery services to prepare something delicious at home. With a bit of planning and our detailed meal prep guide, you can create amazing dishes with confidence and ease.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 3 large eggs
  • ¼ cup + 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (60 g / ~2.1 oz)
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour (300 g / ~10.6 oz)
  • 1½ cups milk (350 ml / ~11.8 fl oz)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt (about 3 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml / ~0.17 fl oz)
  • Butter or oil for cooking

Instructions:

First, sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a large mixing bowl. This step not only combines the dry ingredients, but also aerates the flour, helping to create light and fluffy pancakes.

Next, in a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until the mixture becomes smooth and well blended.

Then, pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Gently stir until the batter comes together. Be careful not to overmix, as this can develop too much gluten and result in dense pancakes.

After that, preheat a griddle or frying pan over medium heat and lightly grease the surface with oil or butter. A well-heated griddle is essential for achieving a golden brown exterior.

Once heated, ladle about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the griddle. Cook until bubbles begin appearing on the surface and the edges look set. Carefully flip and continue cooking until the second side is golden brown.

Finally, serve the pancakes immediately with your favorite toppings. Classic maple syrup, fresh fruit, or a scoop of whipped cream are great choices to elevate your homemade pancakes.
