This homemade butter cheese recipe is a practical way to prepare a smooth, creamy, and sliceable cheese using everyday ingredients. With a rich buttery flavor and soft yet firm texture, this cheese works perfectly for breakfast, sandwiches, snacks, or melting over warm dishes.
Ingredients
- 3 cups whole milk (25 fl oz / 750 ml)
- 3.5 oz grated Parmesan cheese (100 g)
- 4 tablespoons cornstarch
- 7 oz butter (200 g)
- 1 teaspoon salt (about 7 g, adjust to taste)
Instructions
Begin by placing the milk, grated Parmesan cheese, butter, cornstarch, and salt into a blender. Process the mixture until it becomes completely smooth and evenly combined, forming a creamy liquid base.
Transfer this mixture to a medium saucepan and heat gently over low temperature. As it warms, stir continuously to ensure even cooking and prevent sticking. Little by little, the texture will change, becoming thicker and creamier.
Continue cooking while stirring until the mixture transforms into a dense, cohesive cheese mass with a soft dough-like consistency. At this stage, it should be firm enough to hold its shape when moved with a spoon.
While still warm, move the cheese mixture into a lightly greased container or mold of your choice. Press firmly to compact the cheese and create a smooth, uniform surface.
Allow it to cool naturally at room temperature before transferring to the refrigerator. Chill for 3 to 4 hours, or until fully set and easy to unmold.
Once firm, remove from the mold, slice, and serve your fresh homemade butter cheese.
