Ingredients:
For the batter:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour/wheat flour (240g | 8.5 oz)
- 2 cups of milk (480ml | 16.2 oz)
- 1 cup of vegetable oil (240ml | 8.1 oz)
- 3 eggs
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (20g | 0.7 oz)
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder (14g | 0.5 oz)
- 1 tablespoon of salt (15g | 0.53 oz)
For assembling:
- 50g grated cheese (1.76 oz)
- 300g mozzarella cheese (10.5 oz)
- 300g ham (10.5 oz)
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 1 cup of cream cheese spread or soft cheese (about 220g | 7.7 oz)
Directions:
In a blender, combine the milk, eggs, salt, oil, and cornstarch. Blend for about 2 minutes until smooth. Add the flour and blend again until the batter is fully mixed.
Add the baking powder and stir it in gently with a spatula—don’t blend it.
Pour half of the batter into a greased and floured baking dish.
Layer the ham, sliced tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese over the batter.
Add spoonfuls of cream cheese on top of the mozzarella. Cover with the remaining batter, spreading it evenly.
Sprinkle the grated cheese on top and decorate with tomato slices.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
Once baked, remove from the oven and serve warm. Enjoy this delicious savory pie with melted cheese and a crispy top!
